Staff Designer, Brand

Posted 6 hours ago

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the lead in-house design representative for Docker's brand. Oversee the visual system across all platforms, evolve it based on effective strategies, and ensure consistent application across Marketing, Product, and other areas.

• Expand Docker's visual language into our product offerings, particularly focusing on how we visually portray our AI products through illustration, motion, and complementary visual language.

• Take full ownership of the design for docker.com and related marketing elements from start to finish: including information architecture, page layouts, interaction patterns, and visual design for both desktop and mobile. Establish the benchmark for an exceptional Docker web experience.

• Lead Docker's marketing design system in Figma, managing the working components, patterns, and tokens utilized by the team daily. Collaborate with Product Design to maintain coherence between brand and product representation across all developer interactions.

• Elevate the quality of design output within Marketing. Review the work of fellow designers and contractors, providing valuable feedback.

• Collaborate with marketing leadership to translate company strategy into brand and visual strategies. Bring a confident perspective on brand evolution, campaign direction, and Docker's positioning against competitors.

• Create designs for print materials, trade shows, event activations, SWAG, and other physical items, ensuring consistent brand representation wherever Docker is present globally.

• Design and implement AI-enhanced creative workflows that encompass image generation, video and motion, voice, copy iteration, and in-editor design assistance. Develop systems, prompt libraries, and asset pipelines that enable the team to operate at a higher efficiency while staying updated with the evolving AI tools landscape.

• Conduct lightweight UX activities to support marketing objectives: wireframes, flow diagrams, usability assessments, and basic user testing on web and campaign interfaces.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of design experience encompassing brand, visual, and web design, with a strong track record at staff or principal level, preferably in SaaS, developer tools, or other technical sectors.

• A Bachelor's degree in Design, Visual Communication, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• A strong portfolio showcasing the brand systems you've developed, evolved, or significantly implemented across various platforms. It should include brand application projects, illustration, large-scale web design, and motion; experience in 3D and video is an advantage.

• Proven experience collaborating closely with external creative partners, agencies, contractors, or specialized studios, acting as the senior in-house designer who guides their work, assesses deliverables, and implements the outcomes.

• High-level brand conceptualization: the ability to assess color, typography, iconography, and design system choices against voice, strategy, and mission, and to effectively communicate the strategic rationale for these decisions to non-designers, including executives.

• Strong UX/UI fundamentals: hands-on experience in designing and delivering responsive web experiences at scale, leading efforts within a well-established design system, and closely partnering with engineers during implementation.

• Proven fluency with generative AI integrated into a genuine creative workflow, not merely as a trend. You can articulate where AI is beneficial, where it falls short, and how to maintain a human perspective in the work, having established workflows that others can adopt.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; comfortable presenting work to executives, justifying design choices, and influencing across marketing, product, and engineering teams.

• A sincere interest in developer tools and the AI/agent ecosystem that Docker is developing.
