This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Leverage data and insights to inform decisions, establish goals, and pinpoint strategies to achieve balanced team objectives.
• Manage comprehensive data science projects from the initial problem definition to the final model deployment.
• Supervise the experimental design aimed at addressing specific inquiries.
• Identify and promote continuous enhancements of essential business metrics.
• Convert data science findings into tangible business results and value delivery.
• Foster relationships with business partners to ensure cross-organizational alignment and facilitate the adoption of data science capabilities.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data scientists.
• Keep abreast of trends in data science and technology, identifying opportunities for implementation at Kohl’s.
• Create prescriptive AI/ML solutions, including foundational models and predictive systems.
• Develop quantitative evaluation frameworks for LLMs, SLMs, and multi-agent systems.
• Enforce responsible-AI practices, including bias detection, fairness constraints, data contracts, and model-risk management.
• Integrate enterprise knowledge graphs and semantic layers for RAG pipelines and vector search/databases.
• Monitor production inference data for signs of concept drift, data degradation, and model decay.
• Over 6 years of experience in developing, assessing, or applying contemporary AI/ML solutions, including LLMs, RAG, optimization, or causal methods pertinent to business challenges.
• More than 6 years of demonstrated expertise in AI evaluation, responsible-AI practices, and bias/risk mitigation.
• At least 6 years of proven experience in evaluating production GenAI and agentic systems utilizing golden datasets, LLM-as-a-judge methodologies, guardrail hit rate analysis, and response failure analytics.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a comparable quantitative discipline.
• 6+ years (or 3+ years with a Master’s degree) of progressively complex experience in data science.
• Proficiency in developing and deploying cutting-edge algorithms using machine learning, statistical, and optimization techniques.
• Expertise in utilizing modern analytics tools, programming languages, and cloud platforms (Python, R, Spark, SQL, GCP, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly focused on product development.
• Experience in proposing quick experiments and iterating rapidly.
• Proven capability to lead teams through ambiguous technical challenges to generate business impact.
• Preferred: Master's degree and/or Ph.D.
• Preferred: Experience in Retail and Logistics.
• Preferred: Background in Merchandising and/or Supply Chain Management.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Digital and/or Marketing models.
