This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Oversee intricate modeling and analytical projects that span a wide and varied scope.
• Propel cross-product initiatives with a high degree of autonomy.
• Establish the technical strategy for uncertain challenges.
• Elevate the standards of the data science team.
• Integrate deep learning, large language models, and conventional data science methods to develop hybrid models.
• Conceptualize, prototype, validate, deploy, and swiftly harness the value of projects.
• Utilize big data, federated learning, unstructured data, time series and sequence modeling, GLMs, XGBoost, and Transformers.
• Convey data insights to clients, stakeholders, and potential customers to drive business outcomes.
• Initiate new projects and contribute reusable systems, packages, and frameworks.
• Guide junior data scientists and enhance team standards.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline with over 5 years of professional data science experience in building predictive models, or a Master’s or Ph.D. with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced expertise with deep learning frameworks and the essential Python data science ecosystem.
• Comprehensive understanding of contemporary AI architectures, including Transformers, Neural Networks, and LLMs.
• Excellent technical communication and collaboration abilities with non-technical stakeholders and engineering/product teams.
• MLOps experience in transitioning models from notebooks to production.
• Proficient in experiment tracking, packaging, Docker containerization, model serving and APIs, CI/CD, and pipeline orchestration.
• Experience in monitoring production models for data drift, concept drift, and performance degradation with alert mechanisms.
• Strong peer leadership skills and capability to mentor junior data scientists.
• Proven experience in setting and enhancing team standards.
• Familiarity with actuarial methods and collaboration with actuaries is an advantage.
• Understanding of healthcare and medical data.
• Knowledge of underwriting and claims, or the ability to predict long-tailed and/or rare events.
