Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and take ownership of the strategic architecture for Foodsmart's data platform.

• Spearhead the design and execution of next-generation data pipelines.

• Establish and uphold company-wide standards concerning data quality, governance, security, and compliance.

• Act as a technical leader across functions, collaborating with engineering, product, data science, and business stakeholders.

• Identify systemic bottlenecks and drive enhancements across the platform.

• Mentor engineers to enhance their skills; influence hiring choices and data platform strategies.

• Serve as an internal expert on best practices in data engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience in data engineering.

• Demonstrated experience operating at a staff or principal level.

• Extensive expertise in contemporary cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery).

• Advanced SQL capabilities and solid experience with relational, columnar, and NoSQL database systems.

• Expert proficiency in data pipeline and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Dagster).

• Strong programming foundation in Python, Scala, or Java.

• Experience in backend development with proficiency in TypeScript, Java, Python, Node.js, and SQL-based RDBMS.

• Profound experience in designing data models and schemas for both operational and analytical applications.

• Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7) is preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; Master's degree is preferred.
