Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and enhancement of scalable data platform infrastructure, orchestration frameworks, and modeling patterns that facilitate reporting, analytics, operational systems, and emerging business domains.

• Lead intricate, cross-functional projects with extensive scope, balancing technical trade-offs related to scalability, reliability, maintainability, cost-effectiveness, and delivery speed.

• Mentor and support engineers throughout the team, assisting in the establishment of best practices for data modeling, orchestration, observability, Infrastructure-as-Code, and operational excellence.

• Conduct technical discussions and architectural decisions, serving as a trusted technical authority and escalation point for challenging engineering issues.

• Collaborate closely with stakeholders in Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Operations to convert vague business requirements into scalable technical solutions and platform capabilities.

• Design and maintain dependable, observable, and reusable data workflows utilizing Python, SQL, dbt, Airflow, Terraform, and cloud-native technologies.

• Develop and refine standards for testing, monitoring, incident response, operational reliability, security, and cost optimization across the platform.

• Evaluate and guide code, infrastructure, and architectural decisions to uphold high standards for quality, extensibility, maintainability, and operational excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in software development or data engineering, showcasing leadership in complex technical projects and cross-functional collaboration.

• An AI-first mindset with hands-on experience utilizing AI-assisted engineering tools like Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT to enhance developer productivity, operational efficiency, code quality, and scalability.

• Profound knowledge in modern data modeling and transformation practices, including scalable and maintainable architecture patterns across analytical and operational domains.

• Significant experience in designing reusable pipeline frameworks and orchestration strategies using dbt, Apache Airflow, Python, and cloud-native technologies.

• Extensive experience in designing and operating cloud-based data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or similar frameworks.

• Proven experience leading platform reliability initiatives involving observability, monitoring, incident response, operational excellence, performance optimization, and cost management.

• Strong familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, automated testing strategies, and contemporary software engineering best practices for scalable and reliable data platforms.

• Exceptional technical leadership and communication abilities, including mentoring engineers, influencing technical direction, and aligning cross-functional stakeholders.

• Capability to navigate through ambiguity, balance competing priorities, and drive high-impact initiatives from conception to delivery.
