Data Engineer

📋 Description

• In this Data Engineer position, you will be part of a cross-functional product squad where data is regarded as a product rather than a service.

• Collaborating closely with Product Managers, engineers, and business stakeholders, you will help shape the role of data in enhancing customer experiences, informing decision-making, and driving growth.

• You will not only build reliable and scalable data pipelines but also assist in defining metrics, translating product requirements into data models, and ensuring that data is accessible, trustworthy, and actionable.

• Our technology stack centers around Azure, utilizing Azure Data Factory and SQL databases to construct the data warehouse. You will partner with cross-functional teams and engage closely with stakeholders to establish data requirements, deliver solutions, and uphold best practices.

• Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with Product Owners and stakeholders to convert business and product requirements into clearly defined data models, pipelines, and metrics.

• Designing and developing scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and other native Azure tools.

• Taking ownership of the data layer within your product area, ensuring that data is reliable, well-structured, and suitable for decision-making and product applications.

• Working with teammates to enhance data architecture, ensuring high performance and dependability.

• Engaging with stakeholders to collect and refine data requirements, providing solutions that align with business goals.

• Implementing and maintaining version control practices (e.g., Git) to facilitate collaboration and ensure code quality.

• Keeping clear and comprehensive documentation of data workflows and processes.

• Tracking task progress using Jira, managing and prioritizing workloads while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Contributing to the development and enforcement of data engineering standards, best practices, and documentation processes.

• Actively participating in squad rituals (planning, refinement, retrospectives) to contribute to prioritization and delivery decisions.

• Assisting in monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancing data pipelines and ETL processes to support continuous improvement initiatives.

• Keeping up to date with industry trends and technologies to promote ongoing enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer with demonstrable expertise in Azure data tools, particularly Azure Data Factory.

• Proficient in SQL, Python, and data engineering frameworks.

• Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (e.g., dimensional modeling, warehouse design, OLAP vs OLTP).

• Solid knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably Azure, along with familiarity with Azure-based storage and data processing solutions.

• Understanding of data warehousing principles, ETL/ELT practices, and data modeling techniques.

• Prior experience in Financial Services, particularly with Savings or Lending products.

• Ability to tackle complex data challenges and work independently on large data initiatives.

• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and technical teams.

• Comfortable working in a cross-functional team and contributing to collective outcomes rather than just individual deliverables.

• Experience working within product squads, contributing to the delivery of product outcomes.

• Fluent in English.
