
Staff Backend Engineer β Submission Processing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ We seek engineers who are passionate about tackling challenging problems and taking full ownership of outcomes from start to finish.
β’ As a Staff Engineer on the Submission Processing team, you will operate at the crossroads of AI and backend engineering, wielding significant ownership and influence: designing systems, making architectural decisions amidst uncertainty, and playing a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of the team.
β’ You will focus on developing and scaling LLM-based systems that manage billions of highly unstructured data points daily, extracting accurate information and providing insights that insurers depend on for critical decision-making.
β’ This represents a challenge that the industry has yet to effectively tackle, and you will engage in cutting-edge issues that demand creativity and ambition. We are a small team where individual contributions significantly impact both our technology and business outcomes.
β’ A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering.
β’ Demonstrate hustle and resilience; you excel in your craft and are relentless in your pursuit of excellence.
β’ Take complete ownership of your projects and drive them to completion with minimal oversight.
β’ Communicate proactively by identifying blockers, asking the right questions, and keeping stakeholders informed.
β’ Embrace experimentation: youβre comfortable testing ideas, measuring outcomes, and quickly iterating on unsolved problems.
β’ Possess strong fundamentals in system design, debugging, and problem-solving.
β’ Have experience working with LLMs in production and understand the requirements for deploying them at scale.
β’ Familiarity with AWS and serverless technologies (such as Lambda and EC2), asynchronous workflows, and cloud environments is essential.
β’ Proficient in Python (our primary technology stack), though we welcome strong candidates from other object-oriented programming backgrounds.
β’ Comfortable working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
β’ Enthusiastic about tackling challenges that others find difficult.
β’ Bonus: Experience with document pipelines and processing large volumes of data.
