This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Establish the technical vision for core replenishment R&D — outline the modeling roadmap encompassing demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and decision-making policies, ensuring alignment with product and business strategies.
• Analyze complex challenges such as inventory decay, promotions, price elasticity, and inventory uncertainty, implementing solutions for multi-stage and multi-echelon inventory optimization issues.
• Implement fundamental improvements to our core system from research through to production, developing rigorously tested and scalable code — we are not merely an analytics team.
• Spearhead research and development efforts addressing new product and business challenges.
• Elevate the technical standards across the Intelligence team: mentor scientists and engineers, establish benchmarks for experimental rigor, and evaluate designs and outcomes.
• Expand the frontiers of AI capabilities within both products and scientist workflows.
• MS or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• For candidates with an MS, a minimum of 8 years of industry experience; for those with a PhD, at least 4 years of industry experience.
• Proven experience in researching and developing systems that facilitate large-scale decision making under uncertainty.
• Previous expertise in areas such as inventory optimization, supply chain management, network optimization, forecasting, game theory, decision analysis, stochastic optimization, approximate dynamic programming, or related domains is advantageous.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills. You should be capable of articulating complex mathematical concepts to product teams in layman's terms and adept at translating business requirements into constrained optimization problems.
• Capability to independently deliver high-quality software implementations of your solutions utilizing the Python data stack (numpy/torch/pandas/etc.). Prior experience with Python is not mandatory.
• Preferred skills: familiarity with ML Platform and a strong passion for mentorship.
