This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the technical lead for customer opportunities in industrial heat, combined heat & power, and power applications, collaborating with business development during sales calls and managing the technical discussions with customer engineering teams and executives.
• Conduct technical discovery by managing customer data requests (load profiles, steam conditions, utility data, plot plans, one-lines) and performing site assessments; validate opportunity screens for standard applications and perform initial technical evaluations for innovative applications.
• Size and configure Antora's product for each site within its adaptable specifications, effectively optimizing trade-offs among performance, costs, and site limitations.
• Create conceptual site layouts, heat integration designs, and define site boundary conditions.
• Oversee the product-side electrical configuration and coordinate the product-to-interconnection interface with our energy/interconnection team.
• Manage proposal-stage configuration analysis and cost estimates that support letters of intent, term sheets, and internal investment approvals.
• Assist with RFP/RFI responses; proactively address and resolve customer technical concerns to facilitate deal progression.
• Aid in commercial negotiations by providing technical documentation and performance guarantees for letters of intent and term sheets, applying keen judgment on the economic impacts of design decisions and commitments.
• Prepare basis-of-design handoff packages (configuration specifications, layouts, integration concepts, assumptions, and risks) that allow project engineering to seamlessly continue projects into detailed design (FEED and beyond).
• Relay customer feedback and market insights back to product management to enhance the product and roadmap.
• Expand the applications engineering function: collaborate with our software and AI team to develop tools that automate processes such as layouts, drawings, and cost estimates; mentor and support the growth of a small team of applications engineers over time.
• Expect approximately 25% travel, which may include some international trips.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical, chemical, or electrical engineering (or related field) with 12+ years of experience (or 8+ with a relevant advanced degree) in utility-scale energy projects, large industrial facilities, and/or energy equipment applications.
• Extensive knowledge in either industrial process/thermal systems (steam and utility systems, heat integration) or power systems (MV/HV electrical, grid interconnection) – with a working understanding of the other to engage customer engineers credibly in both areas.
• Experience with energy storage and/or utility-scale energy projects, including site layout and equipment configuration.
• Knowledge of codes and standards that govern industrial energy facilities – NFPA, NEC, ASME, API, UL, etc.
• Proficient in creating and reviewing PFDs, one-line diagrams, and site layout drawings.
• Strong techno-economic intuition and commercial judgment – adept at linking configuration trade-offs and performance guarantees to project economics.
• Outstanding customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) and a good sense of which workflows to automate.
• A self-motivated individual who excels at managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic startup environment.
• Equity compensation in the form of stock options.
• Comprehensive health benefits package including life and disability insurance.
• 401K plan with employer contributions.
• Flexible spending accounts.
• Industry-leading paid time off policy featuring flexible and inclusive holiday observance.
• Paid volunteer time off.
