This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +8 more states.
• Take ownership of the complete development process for essential intelligent capabilities, starting from scientific signals to product integration, launch, and iterative improvements.
• Identify advancements in personalization technology strategy while influencing the roadmap and technical direction across partner teams.
• Create measurement frameworks, conduct lightweight offline evaluations, and establish shadow-mode testing infrastructure to facilitate rapid iteration.
• Assist in the development of causal and counterfactual models, as well as design experiments that measure real impacts on behavior and health.
• Guide scientists and engineers while cultivating team norms focused on experimentation and evaluation.
• Collaborate effectively with engineering, science, product, and design within the Health Intelligence team.
• Articulate trade-offs, uncertainties, and modeling assumptions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the US and EU.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in applied AI, AI research, and backend engineering.
• A graduate degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant quantitative discipline is highly preferred.
• Extensive experience with AI/LLM-backed products, evaluation workflows, and production experimentation frameworks.
• Profound knowledge of backend engineering best practices and systems catering to millions of users.
• Practical experience in designing retrieval, ranking, and recommendation systems.
• Familiarity with model serving, pipeline architecture, and deployment infrastructure.
• Experience in integrating recommendation or retrieval signals with LLM-powered generation.
• Proficiency in designing lightweight experiments and evaluations, including shadow testing and staged rollouts.
• Background in framing personalization challenges, modeling user trajectories, and working with stateful or sequential data.
• Exposure to causal methodologies and experiment design.
• Demonstrable experience influencing technical direction, mentoring others, shaping team practices, or leading cross-functional scientific initiatives.
• Capability to explain complex systems, trade-offs, and uncertainties to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong proficiency in Python, encompassing data analysis and modeling, along with experience in modern data tooling.
