This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.
• Create, prototype, and implement AI models utilizing Python, Databricks, and MLflow specifically for veterinary healthcare applications.
• Employ machine learning and natural language processing techniques on both structured and unstructured clinical data, such as EMR records, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory results.
• Formulate predictive models to assess disease risk, prognosis, and treatment outcomes.
• Collaborate with veterinary specialists to convert domain-specific questions into scalable data science solutions.
• Develop explainable AI models to aid clinical decision-making and foster trust in automated insights.
• Contribute to the establishment of evaluation frameworks for AI-driven tools and solutions.
• Work alongside data engineers to create scalable data pipelines on Databricks.
• Implement prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques to enhance generative AI performance.
• Engage in agile development cycles, ensuring clear documentation and experiment traceability.
• Utilize Git version-control best practices effectively.
• Enhance veterinary diagnostics, enable earlier interventions, and support healthcare decisions for both veterinarians and pet owners.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Required experience with Generative AI, LLM, Python, Databricks, and RAG.
• Over 5 years of experience in developing ML/AI solutions using Python, Pandas, PySpark, scikit-learn, and MLflow.
• Proficiency in handling large, distributed datasets.
• Solid foundation in machine learning, NLP, and statistical methodologies.
• Experience in data exploration, analysis, and visualization techniques.
• Capability to construct and deploy comprehensive data science solutions.
• Strong skills in SQL and data transformation.
• Experience with Git for collaborative development efforts.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation abilities.
• Competence in navigating the entire data science lifecycle.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering and generative AI methodologies.
• Experience with agentic workflows or LLM frameworks.
• Knowledge of healthcare or life sciences datasets, including EMR, radiology, and pathology information.
• Understanding of knowledge graphs, ontologies, or semantic data modeling principles.
