Cloud/AI Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain Java-based applications tailored for cloud environments utilizing contemporary engineering practices and cloud-native methodologies.

• Implement cloud-native Google Cloud Platform (GCP) solutions for workflows involving image capture, ingestion, processing, storage, retrieval, and distribution.

• Create and manage RESTful APIs for both internal services and external partners, encompassing versioning, documentation, and backward compatibility.

• Construct and uphold image processing pipelines for tasks such as validation, transformation, metadata extraction, indexing, retention, archival, and deletion.

• Introduce AI-enhanced image functionalities like classification, OCR/data extraction, redaction, quality checks, and similarity search.

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to cloud applications and defects through thorough root-cause analysis and preventive measures.

• Maintain security and compliance by implementing secure coding practices, IAM/authorization controls, encryption, auditing, and policy-compliant data handling.

• Develop and sustain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code in collaboration with the DevOps team.

• Introduce observability through logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and operational documentation/runbooks.

• Work alongside DevOps, QA, Product Management, and security stakeholders to plan, deliver, test, and support software solutions.

• Engage in architecture/design reviews, code reviews, technical documentation, shared standards, and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in developing backend services and APIs using Java, particularly with Spring/Spring Boot.

• Practical experience in designing, deploying, and managing applications on Google Cloud Platform through serverless and/or container-based methods.

• Proficient in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, including authentication/authorization and service integration.

• Experience with image-centric workflows, encompassing capture/ingestion, object storage, transformation, and metadata management.

• Familiarity with integrating AI capabilities such as computer vision/OCR, extraction, redaction, or search, along with knowledge of evaluation/monitoring concepts.

• Understanding of secure engineering practices, including IAM, least privilege principles, service accounts, secrets management, and encryption both in transit and at rest, as well as audit logging.

• Knowledge of CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform, and Git-based development workflows.

• Strong experience in troubleshooting cloud applications, defect triage, performance optimization, production support, and observability tools.

• Excellent collaboration and communication abilities across engineering, QA, DevOps, product, and security teams.

• A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience is required.

• A degree from an accredited college/university in a related field is mandatory; if the degree is not in a relevant field, an additional four years of related experience is necessary.

• Typically performs all functional duties independently.
