Applied AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop innovative AI-driven product features from concept to deployment.

• Enhance current AI processes to improve quality, reliability, latency, and user satisfaction.

• Create and execute workflows based on LLMs, including structured outputs, validation mechanisms, and fallback protocols.

• Establish evaluation cycles, testing procedures, and quality assessments for AI-generated results.

• Incorporate AI functionalities into pre-existing product and backend infrastructures.

• Collaborate with both commercial and open-source LLMs without being constrained to a single provider.

• Facilitate self-hosted model workflows where beneficial for quality, speed, cost, or control.

• Troubleshoot AI feature malfunctions across various inputs, outputs, data points, backend processes, and user interactions.

• Utilize AI development tools as an essential component of the daily operations.

• Deliver results swiftly while maintaining high production standards.

• Proficient software engineering skills, particularly in Python or a similar backend programming language.

• Experience in developing AI-driven product features or LLM-based workflows.

• Capability to swiftly transform vague product concepts into functional software.

• Strong insight into designing, testing, validating, and enhancing AI outputs.

• Proven experience in integrating AI processes into production environments.

• Keen debugging abilities across application logic, data handling, model outputs, and user-facing operations.

• Familiarity with evaluation, testing, validation, or quality assurance for AI-generated outputs.

• Significant experience using AI development tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent in daily tasks.

• High intelligence, quick learning aptitude, proactive approach, and a sense of ownership.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, making prompt decisions, and thriving in a high-trust startup atmosphere.

• Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.

• Experience in frontend or full-stack product development (preferred).

• Knowledge of self-hosted LLMs, model serving, inference optimization, or similar systems (preferred).

• Familiarity with open-source LLMs and relevant deployment processes (preferred).

• Experience in enhancing latency, cost-effectiveness, quality, or reliability of AI systems (preferred).

• Background in healthcare software, healthcare data, or regulated environments (preferred).

• Experience in structured data extraction, documentation automation, voice workflows, or workflow automation (preferred).

• Proficiency in the German language (preferred).

• Understanding of nursing homes or elderly care processes (preferred).
