This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Delivers comprehensive off-site support to patients, pharmacists, and healthcare providers.
• Collaborates closely with patients to provide medication adherence assistance.
• Offers exceptional care to hospital patients through tailored medication management services.
• Functions as an off-site member of the clinic team, facilitating prior authorization and financial assistance.
• Informs potential pharmacy patients about the services offered by the hospital pharmacy.
• Manages all medication-related requirements for patients.
• Expands the specialty pharmacy's patient base by following Shields’ programs.
• Addresses insurance-related challenges and conducts benefit investigations.
• Assesses patients' need for financial aid and secures it when necessary.
• Records patient information in the hospital EMR and other required tools.
• Ensures patients stay on track with their medication regimens.
• Obtains prescription renewals and assists patients in understanding their medications.
• Identifies medications that need special storage and handling.
• Responds to, resolves, and triages incoming inquiries.
• Meets operational goals by entering data and preparing follow-up action plans.
• Actively engages in initiatives aimed at process improvement.
• Safeguards the organization's integrity by maintaining confidentiality of information.
• Enhances knowledge through educational opportunities and professional literature.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required; 3-5 years is preferred.
• A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
• State registration as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
• National certification as a CPhT or equivalent is highly preferred but not essential.
• Excellent interpersonal communication abilities.
• Outstanding telephone communication skills.
• Comfortable with proactively engaging patients via phone.
• Experienced in reaching out to on-site clinicians, payors, and pharmacies by phone.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Capable of quickly learning additional programs and adapting to Shields’ unique model/tools.
• Strong organizational skills are essential.
