Special Education Tutor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide engaging and personalized virtual instruction tailored to the individual IEP goals, accommodations, and learning profiles of each student.

• Develop organized lesson plans that correspond with student objectives, grade-level standards, and the specific modifications or accommodations required by each student.

• Modify instruction in real-time based on student inquiries, progress, and levels of engagement.

• Monitor student advancement and communicate effectively with families and, when relevant, school district partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is mandatory (a degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or a related field is preferred).

• Experience working with students who have learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, or other special education needs, whether as a certified SPED teacher, paraprofessional, interventionist, or tutor.

• Knowledge of IEPs, 504 plans, and common accommodations (such as extended time, chunked instruction, multi-sensory approaches, etc.).

• Capability to create and deliver lesson plans aligned with student objectives and accommodations.

• Strong skills in virtual instruction — proficiency with video conferencing tools, digital whiteboards, and maintaining student engagement online.

• Ability to successfully pass a background check.

• Access to a reliable computer, internet connection, webcam, and a quiet workspace.

• An active or previous teaching credential, particularly in Special Education, is preferred.

• Experience with specific methodologies such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading, or structured literacy is preferred.

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus (preferred).
