This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide instruction in a tailored educational environment.
• Collaborate with students and/or their parents to assess and devise the student’s academic strategy.
• Oversee and deliver services in line with the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Work in conjunction with other instructional staff and school personnel.
• Report directly to the Principal or their designated representative.
• Organize, plan, and execute daily lessons according to the approved curriculum.
• Conduct pre- and post-testing using standardized assessments for every student.
• Develop and implement goals as specified in each student's IEP.
• Schedule and lead IEP meetings, including 30-day review meetings for all students.
• Responsible for managing student behavior effectively.
• Exhibit proficiency in all subject areas.
• Assist in identifying students who may have disabilities following the intervention phase.
• Provide direct instruction to students.
• Conduct academic assessments.
• Adhere to special education timeline requirements as mandated by education code.
• Collaborate with general education instructors.
• Partner with Special Education Program Specialists and school support staff to enhance student instruction.
• Engage in authorized training sessions, school events, and meetings organized by the district.
• Maintain records of communications with students, families, and other service providers.
• Keep documentation of daily activities.
• Complete necessary reports and forms as required.
• Travel to various school sites to provide Special Education teaching services.
• Carry out assigned administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is mandatory.
• A valid California credential Specialist authorizing the assigned Special Education disability and level, or eligibility for intern status is required.
• English Learner Authorization or eligibility to obtain EL Authorization is a must.
• Autism Authorization is required, or the candidate must be eligible to enroll in and complete a Commission-approved professional preparation program in the requested special education specialty area, including successful completion of supervised field study.
• Proven competency in the core academic subject area assigned is essential.
• Familiarity with California Teaching Standards is important.
• Knowledge of the assigned core academic subject(s) is required.
• Understanding of high school credits, graduation requirements, interventions, and alternative educational programs, including independent study.
• Knowledge of Independent Study, Personal Learning, and Distance Learning education models is essential.
• Awareness of research-based instructional strategies necessary for effective teaching across diverse student populations, including those at risk of academic failure.
• Capability to work effectively with students from various racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with parents, staff, and community representatives in delivering a rigorous educational program.
• Proficiency in communicating effectively, including delivering clear and concise instructions, using academic language, adjusting delivery level appropriately, listening impartially, and providing constructive feedback/reinforcement.
• Competence in making independent judgments, adhering to deadlines, and maintaining precise student records.
