Special Education Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee and deliver instructional support, virtual teaching, and comprehensive strategies for a designated group of students;

• Create, write, and assist in the execution of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs);

• Ensure full compliance with all IDEA documentation requirements;

• Assess tests and evaluations, and complete progress monitoring;

• Maintain regular communication with parents and learning coaches of students with special needs to ensure that their IEP objectives are being achieved and that their requirements are met promptly and appropriately;

• Collaborate with teachers to coordinate the application of specially designed instruction as specified in the IEP for students with specific needs and potential learning challenges;

• Plan, organize, and facilitate IEP-related meetings in a virtual format, as necessary;

• Support teachers and learning coaches in developing and implementing program modifications and strategies for all students;

• Assist, as required, in the organization and proper execution of all paperwork, documentation, and procedures related to the IEP process;

• Communicate with service providers for students requiring related services as outlined in their IEPs;

• Partner with third-party organizations to facilitate services and transition planning;

• Keep accurate and current data in the school’s Learning Management System and special education software;

• Aid in administering state assessments and coordinating the necessary adaptations based on the IEP;

• Conduct transition interviews and develop an effective transition plan;

• Regularly communicate with learning coaches, students, and team teachers via computer and telephone;

• Participate in field trips and other community events organized for students and families;

• Perform other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Current North Carolina Teaching License with certification in Special Education (K-12).

• Degree in Special Education or a related educational field.

• Experience with policy (IDEA) and/or administration in Special Education.

• A valid driver’s license or state-issued identification card.

• Availability to work full-time from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.

• Strong interpersonal skills that enable effective collaboration with students, parents, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.

• Proficient technology skills (particularly in Google Suite).

• Virtual experience is preferred.

• Proven ability to foster a positive, equitable, and student-centered environment.

• Customer-focused approach.

• High level of adaptability.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Willingness and capability to travel for school-based meetings, training sessions, graduation, field trips, and state testing events (may require overnight travel).
