This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +4 more states.
• Perform verification of insurance eligibility and pre-checks prior to patient services.
• Follow up on pending, unpaid, rejected, or denied insurance claims until resolution is achieved.
• Recognize and assist in resolving insurance issues before patients receive their bills.
• Keep precise records of insurance and claims.
• Manage inbound and outbound calls with patients.
• Aid in scheduling and coordinating appointments.
• Carry out proactive follow-ups with patients and support those who are confused or frustrated.
• Communicate with Spanish-speaking patients as necessary.
• Review Spanish translations and examine bilingual patient documents for accuracy.
• Coordinate referrals with referring healthcare providers.
• Monitor incomplete documentation and notes.
• Follow up with Kelly concerning incomplete notes, outstanding documentation, and prioritization.
• Dispatch completed documentation to the relevant providers.
• Maintain tracking systems for referrals, follow-ups, deadlines, and pending tasks.
• Assist with office management, organization, and reminders for accountability.
• Format documents and proofread newsletters.
• Support the culinary medicine program through recipe evaluation, curriculum proofreading, and coordination with medical students.
• Provide administrative assistance for diabetes boards and committees.
• Help coordinate training for Pump/Omnipod.
• Organize tasks and ensure that important responsibilities are not overlooked.
• Prior experience in healthcare, medical office settings, or as a Medical Virtual Assistant is strongly preferred.
• Practical experience with insurance verification, eligibility checks, claims follow-ups, and managing unpaid or denied claims is highly preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred, though not mandatory.
• Familiarity with Healthie EHR is advantageous.
• Excellent patient communication skills and professional telephone etiquette.
• Warm, personable, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong abilities in follow-up and task management.
• Proactive and comfortable taking initiative without constant supervision.
• Able to provide persistent yet respectful accountability and reminders.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the capability to manage multiple priorities.
• Reliable and responsive, possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable using phone systems, text messaging, Slack, Salesforce, WhatsApp, and Skype.
• Relevant work experience is required.
• Must be able to speak and write in English clearly and professionally.
• Must provide an NBI Clearance and/or Local Police Clearance prior to onboarding.
• Must participate in video meetings with the camera on as required.
• Must have a reliable laptop or desktop computer.
• A stable high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps is essential.
• A noise-canceling headset is required.
• A working webcam is necessary.
• A quiet and professional work environment is mandatory.
• Spanish-speaking ability is preferred, though not required.
• An educational or teaching background in healthcare is highly preferred but not essential.
