Solutions Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a Solutions Architect facilitating enterprise-level testing, modernization, and integration initiatives within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Assist the VA EHRM application testing organization.

• Provide architectural design and oversight for VistA database environments.

• Design, assess, implement, test, and manage technical architecture solutions across VistA and integrated systems.

• Formulate architecture strategies, conduct feasibility studies, and lead integration analyses for enterprise VA systems.

• Independently gather and define architecture requirements, ensuring compatibility and compliance with VA, EHRM, and enterprise standards.

• Analyze architecture components and database structures.

• Perform risk assessments and define architectures for testing and staging environments.

• Contribute to enterprise testing strategies and assist with system integration activities.

• Design and evaluate architecture components and create system-level test approaches.

• Ensure technical alignment across VistA, EHRM, and enterprise testing environments.

• Engage in collaborative meetings with VA customers, contract teammates, VA project teams, and technical stakeholders.

• Generate clear, comprehensive architectural and technical analysis reports with minimal supervision.

• Utilize enterprise architecture tools, repositories, and governance processes to capture and maintain architecture artifacts and documentation.

• Manage multiple tasks, adapt to evolving priorities, and work independently.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Engineering, or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.

• At least 10 years of professional IT experience, encompassing architecture design, software engineering, system integration, and database-focused solution development.

• Proficiency with VistA or other MUMPS-based systems, including FileMan structures and cross-system interfaces.

• Practical experience with Oracle or SQL Server in UNIX, VMS, and/or Windows environments.

• Capability to design and analyze system architectures, particularly within complex healthcare settings.

• Ability to satisfy federal security requirements and acquire/maintain a Government-granted security clearance.

• Experience in developing Python-based automation and tools.

• Background in designing data integration solutions.

• Knowledge of enterprise network protocols.

• Familiarity with VistA/MUMPS-based data structures.

• Experience with relational database technologies like Oracle and SQL Server.

• Existing access to the VA network (preferred).

• Experience supporting healthcare, VA, or DoD systems (preferred).

• Familiarity with Python, Java, or J2EE applications (preferred).

• Knowledge of HP Quality Center, Rational ClearQuest, or risk-based testing methodologies (preferred).

• Experience with AI-assisted development, automated analytics, or intelligent testing tools (preferred).

• Understanding of REST/SOAP interfaces, HL7/FHIR data exchange, and legacy-to-modern system integrations.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Experience with communication tools (Teams, SharePoint).

• Experience working in UNIX/VMs/Windows environments.
