Solutions Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Report to the Solutions Architecture Manager

• Assist both new and existing clients in grasping the value of InterPayments services and their implementation

• Design and present the architecture illustrating how InterPayments integrates within a client's payment infrastructure

• Collaborate with sales and partnership teams to build the commercial case

• Outline customer transaction flows from checkout through to authorization, capture, settlement, and reconciliation

• Identify the insertion point for surcharge calculation, disclosure, and reporting

• Create current system and sequence diagrams that document system boundaries, call order, data ownership, and integration points

• Assist customer and partner technical teams in producing documentation and develop reference architectures for recurring patterns

• Draft prescriptive integration specifications that encompass endpoints, call order, data, implementation changes, tradeoffs, and reasoning

• Highlight product gaps with actionable technical cases for the Product team

• Facilitate architecture reviews and integration working sessions with customer developers, architects, and gateway or platform vendors

• Deliver documented designs to Implementations and maintain accountability through the go-live process

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years in a technical, customer-facing payments role

• At least 3 years of direct responsibility for the technical design of enterprise payment integrations from start to finish

• Comprehensive knowledge of the payment transaction lifecycle: authorization, capture (including partial and delayed), void, refund, settlement, and reconciliation within accounting systems/ERPs

• Hands-on experience with, or deep integration knowledge of, a payment gateway, acquirer, or payment orchestration platform

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting API documentation, request/response payloads, and transaction logs independently

• Sufficient scripting skills to prototype an API call or analyze a log file

• Capability to evaluate customer workflows and API calls to determine outcomes

• Demonstrated ability to create professional architecture and sequence diagrams

• Experience presenting integration designs to a non-technical executive audience and securing decisions

• Familiarity with ERPs, Accounting Systems of Record, Accounts Receivable Automation platforms, and vertical SaaS platforms (preferred)

• Experience with card-present payment solutions (preferred)

• Background working with enterprise companies in specified verticals (preferred)
