This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in designing scalable solutions for a contemporary federal health data platform that encompasses cloud, on-premises, and government-hosted settings.
• Convert mission, business, data, security, and operational requirements into precise technical designs.
• Contribute to the current-state and target-state architectures aimed at the incremental modernization of legacy federal health systems.
• Create and document data integration strategies utilizing APIs, pipelines, shared services, and reusable data products.
• Implement reference architectures, integration patterns, technical standards, and architectural guardrails.
• Assess technical options, dependencies, and risks related to security, scalability, performance, reliability, maintainability, cost, and delivery.
• Provide support for Databricks and cloud services across AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and hybrid infrastructures.
• Engage in technical discovery and architecture discussions with engineers, technical leaders, customers, and mission stakeholders.
• Develop and sustain architecture diagrams, interface definitions, design documentation, decision records, and technical roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers and Technical Leads to address technical challenges and ensure implementations align with platform architecture.
• Articulate technical decisions, trade-offs, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Serve as a trusted technical partner for 540 by fostering relationships and sharing reusable practices.
• 3-10+ years of experience in solutions architecture, data architecture, software engineering, platform engineering, data engineering, or a related technical domain.
• Experience with enterprise data platforms, distributed systems, data ingestion, transformation, storage, APIs, or data products.
• Background in working within cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
• Experience in integrating data or applications across both modern and legacy systems using APIs or other data exchange methods.
• Proficient knowledge of data modeling, metadata, lineage, data quality, or data governance concepts.
• Capability to consider security, availability, performance, scalability, reliability, and operational support needs in technical designs.
• Experience in creating architecture diagrams, interface designs, technical documentation, decision records, or implementation roadmaps.
• Background in collaborating with engineers and technical leaders to execute complex solution designs.
• Familiarity with modern software engineering practices, development lifecycles, and Git-based workflows.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to navigate uncertainty, investigate technical challenges, pose effective questions, and drive assigned work towards resolution.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active DoW Secret or higher clearance is mandatory.
