This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and implement test cases grounded in software requirements, functional specifications, and user needs for laboratory systems.
• Conduct manual and/or automated testing to ensure software functionality, data integrity, and workflow performance in a CLIA-regulated setting.
• Collaborate closely with laboratory operations teams to grasp end-to-end workflows and convert them into effective test scenarios.
• Identify, document, and monitor software defects; work with engineering teams to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Assist in validation and verification processes for new software releases, system upgrades, and process modifications in alignment with CLIA, CAP, NYSDOH, and internal quality standards.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and validation documentation.
• Engage in risk assessments and impact analyses pertaining to software changes that influence laboratory operations.
• Contribute to the formulation and ongoing enhancement of software testing strategies, SOPs, and documentation practices.
• Facilitate audits and inspections by ensuring the maintenance of clear, detailed, and compliant testing documentation.
• Serve as a quality advocate, guaranteeing that software facilitates accurate, reliable, and timely patient testing outcomes.
• Collaborate with Operational Excellence to synchronize test strategies with process design, workflow optimization, and scalability initiatives.
• Provide insights into system requirements and user stories informed by laboratory workflow expertise and testing knowledge.
• Support critical feedback mechanisms to foster continuous improvements in software systems.
• Assist in change management efforts by evaluating the downstream operational impacts of software releases and enhancements.
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics) or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or validation, ideally within a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of NGS workflows and/or clinical laboratory operations (CLIA, CAP, or equivalent).
• Experience in writing and executing test cases based on defined requirements and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail with the capability to identify edge cases and potential failure modes.
• Excellent documentation skills emphasizing clarity, completeness, and compliance.
• Proven ability to convert complex operational workflows into organized test scenarios and validation strategies.
