Software Quality Engineer IV – BE Data, Auto

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• The Software Quality Engineer IV - Backend Data & Automation will concentrate on ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of data for large-scale applications, while also spearheading automation strategies to enhance efficiency and reliability throughout our QA processes.

• Backend Data Validation & Analysis: Design and implement comprehensive testing strategies for backend services, extensive datasets, APIs, and ETL processes.

• Conduct thorough data analysis, reconciliation, and comparisons across various databases and source systems utilizing complex SQL queries.

• Validate data transformations, aggregations, and business rules across different environments.

• Automation Development: Create scalable automation frameworks or improve existing ones for data validation, API testing, and backend workflows using Cypress.

• Develop automated data comparison tools to efficiently validate large datasets.

• Incorporate automation into CI/CD pipelines to guarantee continuous quality coverage.

• Quality Strategy & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Data Engineering and Product teams to comprehend system architecture and data flows.

• Write and execute comprehensive and detailed test cases and plans.

• Identify gaps in test coverage and lead initiatives to improve validation processes.

• Mentor junior QA engineers on data testing, SQL, automation techniques, and best-in-class quality strategies.

• Operate independently with minimal supervision, seeking guidance only for particularly complex issues.

• Defect Investigation & Troubleshooting: Investigate data discrepancies by analyzing logs, SQL queries, API payloads, and backend services.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to pinpoint root causes and ensure prompt resolution.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 5–8+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering, with a strong emphasis on backend systems and data-intensive applications.

• Expert-level SQL skills (including complex joins, aggregates, window functions, and stored procedures).

• Ability to validate data transformations.

• Analyze large datasets for data reconciliation and comparison.

• Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).

• Experience validating data on modern data platforms (Snowflake, BI Tools, etc.).

• Practical experience in testing APIs and backend services.

• Proficiency in an automation language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.

• Experience in building or maintaining automation frameworks for data validation or backend testing using Cypress.

• Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL processes, or streaming platforms is a significant advantage.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum and CI/CD environments.

• Experience with backlog and defect management tools like Jira, ADO, etc.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
