Software Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Lead cross-functional engineering teams.

• Take ownership of sprint planning, execution, quality of delivery, and risk management.

• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to translate roadmap priorities into actionable plans.

• Eliminate obstacles and enhance team operating rhythm within a distributed environment.

• Enhance visibility, predictability, and accountability for committed tasks.

• Provide technical guidance across contemporary web stacks, including Next.js, Nest.js, Node.js, MongoDB, PHP/MySQL, and cloud infrastructure.

• Assess designs, architectural proposals, and critical code paths.

• Support the design of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems within your team’s area of expertise.

• Advance engineering practices related to CI/CD, code reviews, observability, testing, and incident response.

• Assist teams in adopting practical AI and automation tools to enhance productivity and quality.

• Manage, coach, and develop software engineers through regular one-on-one meetings, feedback, and growth plans.

• Support performance management, recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.

• Cultivate a culture of ownership, collaboration, code quality, and continuous learning.

• Mentor senior engineers and emerging technical leaders.

• Collaborate closely with U.S.-based stakeholders during overlapping hours.

• Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, and business teams to ensure delivery aligns with company objectives.

• Clearly communicate trade-offs, risks, and delivery status to both technical and non-technical partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6 to 10+ years of experience in software engineering.

• 2 to 4+ years of experience leading teams as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or in a similar role.

• Proven experience in delivering production software in a SaaS, web platform, or product-led environment.

• Experience working with distributed or remote teams.

• Strong full-stack engineering background, particularly in JavaScript / TypeScript ecosystems.

• Proficient in Node.js, React / Next.js, Nest.js, APIs, MongoDB, MySQL, and cloud platforms like AWS.

• Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern software delivery workflows.

• Strong understanding of maintainable architecture, delivery trade-offs, and engineering quality.

• Excellent communicator and coach.

• Comfortable balancing speed, quality, and business objectives.

• Capable of diving deep into technical details without becoming a bottleneck.

• Composed in ambiguous situations and effective in a fast-paced environment.
