Software Engineer, Web – L1

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Web design & development: Create and enhance frontend functionalities for GeckoTerminal, our decentralized exchange tracker that processes and displays on-chain trading data, token analytics, and DeFi metrics for millions of users. Facilitate the execution of complete software development lifecycles in alignment with the department's strategy.

• Software development: Produce clean, reusable, and maintainable code and libraries. Develop and deploy code into the production environment seamlessly. Effectively apply fundamental concepts and adhere to best practices to deliver a functional solution.

• Code reviews: Participate in code review activities and suggest improvements to enhance practices within the team.

• Documentation: Create documentation to support project delivery and maintain a knowledge repository for collaborators within the same or different teams.

• Defect recovery: Assist in testing and debugging processes. Replicate defects, offer insights on code implementation, and resolve issues according to team objectives.

• Sharpen the Saw: Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies in web development and engage in knowledge sharing with the team. Acquire new techniques for writing scalable, secure, and defect-free code.

• Team Player: Collaborate effectively with engineering, product managers, and designers to deliver products and features promptly and efficiently.

• Support any ad hoc tasks as required by the company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven track record: Demonstrated experience in developing usable, fully-featured web applications.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent experience in software development.

• Product Knowledge: Strong enthusiasm and passion for learning about the blockchain/cryptocurrency sector and the challenges faced by users.

• Blockchain Familiarity: Knowledge of blockchain concepts such as on-chain data, token standards (e.g., ERC-20), or DeFi protocols. Direct experience in building or contributing to crypto products is a significant advantage.

• Software Development Knowledge: Familiarity with front-end development technologies like React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS, as well as back-end technologies including databases, APIs, and server-side development frameworks such as Ruby on Rails.

• People Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and experience working collaboratively with others in a team to achieve shared goals.

• Leadership: Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision after three months. Demonstrates curiosity and creativity in problem-solving.

• Scope of Work: Focus primarily on well-defined, routine problems where key results are clearly established.

• Problem Solving: Passionate about addressing challenges faced by stakeholders with strong user empathy.

• Nice to have: Previous experience with Ruby, Rails, Javascript, Postgres, and cloud services.
