Software Engineer, Tester

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Assist in critical government initiatives in collaboration with New York State of Health

• Participate in the development, testability, and automation strategies for Java-based enterprise applications

• Work closely with Development and QA teams

• Contribute to the application code and enhance application testability

• Implement automation strategies that support continuous integration and continuous delivery

• Design and develop Selenium test automation frameworks and scripts using Java

• Analyze and create automation scripts for intricate business rules and rules engines

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions

• Develop and test RESTful Web Services

• Handle data in JSON and XML formats

• Conduct API testing employing Postman or REST Assured

• Utilize relational database knowledge, SQL, and database validation techniques

• Write both simple and complex SQL queries, preferably using DB2 SQL syntax, including PL/SQL

• Support large-scale enterprise applications characterized by high availability and intricate integrations

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering

• 5–8 years of experience in software development or SDET roles focused on Java-based enterprise applications

• At least 1 year of experience in supporting large-scale enterprise applications with high availability and complex integrations

• Strong expertise in Core Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, Maven/Gradle, and JUnit/TestNG

• Experience in designing and developing Selenium test automation frameworks and scripts using Java

• Proven ability in analyzing and writing automation scripts for complex business rules and rules engines

• Experience in developing and testing RESTful Web Services as well as working with JSON/XML

• Proficient in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions

• Knowledge of database concepts, including DB2, EDI 834 and 837, SOAP UI, Rational Quality Manager, Agile methodologies, AccelQ, and UI Path

• Capability to collaborate effectively with Development and QA teams

• Familiarity with Postman or REST Assured

• Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, and database validation techniques

• Competence in writing simple and complex SQL queries, preferably with DB2 SQL syntax, including PL/SQL

• Experience in healthcare, Medicaid, or Health Exchange is preferred

• Familiarity with Angular or other modern JavaScript frameworks is preferred

• Experience in building automation frameworks from scratch is preferred

• Mobile testing experience is preferred

• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is preferred

• Experience with Azure or AWS is preferred

• Familiarity with performance and security testing is preferred

• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities
