Software Engineer, Privacy Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop internal products and infrastructure to safeguard the privacy of Block's customers.

• Create and implement services or infrastructure that support data privacy initiatives and uphold consumer privacy rights throughout Block's engineering ecosystem.

• Play a key role in shaping the technological landscape of privacy at Block.

• Partner with engineering teams to integrate privacy engineering products into their solutions.

• Collaborate with product engineering teams, privacy counsel, as well as security and platform engineering teams.

• Offer mentorship and conduct reviews for engineering teams engaged with privacy technologies.

• Assist in the monitoring and stability of current engineering solutions.

• Report directly to the Data Foundations Engineering Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven ability to write high-quality, scalable, robust, and testable code.

• A strong desire to learn new technologies or programming languages.

• Experience in innovative approaches to security and privacy goals across services, infrastructure, or frameworks.

• Background in designing innovative yet resilient security or privacy architectures (preferred).

• Experience in developing or maintaining services or processes that fulfill data governance requirements (preferred).

• Familiarity with designing creative methods to understand and expose data flow, access control, and risk (preferred).

• Ability to communicate complex technical security or privacy concepts effectively (preferred).

• Proficient in Java and Kotlin.

• Knowledge of Linux, Terraform, AWS, and MySQL.
