• Design and implement backend services that manage significant payment volumes, prioritizing reliability, performance, and accuracy at scale.
• Participate in architectural discussions, present proposals to the engineering council, and advocate for well-defined service contracts and straightforward, maintainable system designs.
• Oversee the production impact of your work, proactively identify issues, and effectively resolve incidents as they occur.
• Produce code that your colleagues regard as high quality: production-ready, thoughtfully designed for error handling, and considerate of future engineers' needs.

• Proficient in working with REST APIs and the principles that ensure services are reliable, observable, and easy to understand.

• The confidence to engage in architectural discussions, ask insightful questions, and challenge design decisions that seem illogical.
• Background in the payments, fintech, or infrastructure sectors is advantageous, though the depth of engineering expertise is more critical than the specific industry experience.
