This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Develops and designs large-scale, intricate platform components that underpin core infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native services.
• Takes full responsibility for the end-to-end development of low to medium-complexity platform systems.
• Proficient in implementing and maintaining components throughout the entire platform stack, which includes infrastructure-as-code (IaC), middleware, service orchestration, and monitoring tools.
• Conducts peer code reviews for junior and mid-level platform engineers (Level I and II), ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
• Holds the authority to approve deliverables created by Level I and II platform staff.
• Exhibits strong abilities in reverse engineering and refactoring existing platform code or automation to enhance scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Produces robust, testable modules utilizing Test-Driven Development methodologies.
• Employs platform design patterns and principles for reusable and extensible components.
• Directs the design of infrastructure modules, CI/CD integrations, and system automation, particularly focusing on high availability and fault tolerance.
• Generates and maintains comprehensive technical design documents for platform services.
• Conducts design reviews for junior platform engineers, providing guidance on scalability, reliability, and operational matters.
• Plans and implements unit testing for all developed platform modules and reviews test coverage and results from junior staff.
• Defines and documents strategies for integration testing across platform services and environments.
• Highly adept at debugging and resolving issues at the infrastructure and platform levels, including deployment failures, environmental drift, and automation bugs.
• Leads the investigation and resolution of moderate to complex issues in production platforms, defining incident response strategies and resolution playbooks.
• Offers Level III support for critical production issues, collaborating across development, application, and security teams.
• Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned to support the platform team’s objectives and cross-functional collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Over 6 years of professional experience in software analysis, development, engineering, and support within large corporate environments, including more than 2 years of mentoring and leading junior software engineers.
• More than 5 years of hands-on experience with programming and scripting languages such as Python, Spark, Java, SQL, and Shell Scripting.
• Over 5 years of experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure, including the building, deployment, and maintenance of cloud resources.
• Familiarity with cloud computing services and best practices.
• Strong understanding and practical experience with Agile methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience in designing and working with n-tier architecture systems.
• Proficient in constructing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git for version control, and employing various DevOps tools to streamline development and deployment processes.
• Experience in monitoring applications and implementing alerting mechanisms for reliability and performance.
• Familiarity with data engineering workflows and tools such as Glue, Spark, Python, Jupyter Notebook, and AWS Lambda.
• Working knowledge of JIRA and ServiceNow.
• Strong experience with relational databases including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.
• Comfortable working in both Linux and Windows environments.
• Experience in application administration and configuration.
• Experience with SaaS-based applications.
• Skilled in creating clear, concise documentation and process specifications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with both business and technical teams.
• Basic exposure to API development and integration.
• Experience with job scheduling tools such as Autosys.
• Solid understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proven capacity to plan, manage, and deliver enterprise-wide projects on time and within scope.
• Experience in mentoring and supporting junior team members.
• Ability to train end-users or team members on tools, processes, or systems.
• Capable of designing innovative business solutions for new processes or practices.
• Effective in facilitating meetings, gathering requirements, and presenting project status.
