Software Engineer II – Backend, Payments

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Create and execute robust services and libraries for payment integration across Kraken's offerings.

• Develop reusable, testable, and highly efficient code.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Frontend Engineering teams to ensure seamless feature integration and enhancements.

• Operate within a large-scale distributed systems architecture.

• Work closely with engineers who are well-versed in cryptocurrency.

• Support payment systems that manage the initial and final transactions of digital and fiat funds entering or exiting Kraken.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering.

• Expertise in writing clean, scalable backend code in a systems language, preferably Rust or Node/Typescript.

• A security-first approach when designing systems.

• Capability to independently troubleshoot issues across operating systems, networks, and application layers.

• Understanding of distributed systems and associated technologies, including RPC protocols, Kafka, and event-driven systems.

• Candidates must specify the country and city from where they will be working.
