This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop a foundational platform that facilitates the reconciliation of transactions across various systems, partners, and cash flows.
• Construct and integrate data pipelines from diverse products and systems.
• Create intuitive and well-considered user experiences to enhance the workflows of our business partners.
• Gain an in-depth understanding of the capital systems that support and finance Affirm.
• Collaborate with team engineers to enhance design, code quality, and testing practices.
• Work alongside product managers and business counterparts to architect top-tier systems and processes.
• With guidance from your team’s tech lead and manager, decompose larger projects into manageable tasks, execute them in phases, and work with others to ensure timely project completion.
• Assist peers and stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle by engaging with product management, design, and analytics during ideation, clarifying technical limitations, and collaborating on decisions that appropriately weigh risks and trade-offs.
• Ensure the operational stability and availability of your team’s outputs by developing and tracking metrics, escalating issues as necessary, and contributing to “keep the lights on” and on-call initiatives.
• You possess at least 1.5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Proficient in full stack web development, back end development, event processing, or batch processing.
• Proven experience in designing, building, launching, and maintaining scalable products.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams.
• Skilled in agentic coding practices.
• Familiarity with Python, JavaScript/React, Airflow, Spark, Horizon Portal, and SQL is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to transform a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, executing it by writing clear, comprehensible, well-tested, and extensible code.
• Comfortable navigating a large codebase, debugging others' code, and providing constructive feedback through code reviews.
• Your experience shows a commitment to personal growth, actively seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities that foster effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
• A proactive, organized, curious, and self-motivated individual.
• This role requires either relevant practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
