Software Engineer, Go

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain backend services and APIs primarily utilizing Go

• Construct dependable software that supports cloud services, internal platform functionalities, and partner-facing products

• Design services that are scalable and maintainable to accommodate increasing users, workloads, devices, and infrastructure operations

• Engage in provisioning, orchestration, automation, lifecycle management, integrations, and asynchronous workflows

• Develop stable APIs for internal services, frontend applications, partners, and third-party integrations

• Take part in architectural and technical design decisions

• Create efficient data models and access patterns using relational databases and other storage technologies

• Work with event-driven architectures, message queues, background processing, and distributed workflows

• Ensure production reliability through failure handling, retries, idempotency, timeouts, concurrency, and observability

• Produce tested, maintainable code and contribute to testing, code reviews, documentation, and deployment standards

• Investigate production incidents, pinpoint root causes, and avert recurring issues

• Enhance service performance and reliability as the platform expands

• Aid in the transition towards Go-based services

• Collaborate with Infrastructure teams on systems governed by the software

• Translate business and partner challenges into technically robust solutions in conjunction with Product and Engineering leads

• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, engineering planning, and ongoing improvement

• Simplify architecture and take ownership of software through design, development, testing, deployment, observability, maintenance, and evolution

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional software engineering experience

• Substantial professional experience in developing production systems with Go (Golang)

• Strong grasp of Go fundamentals, including concurrency, goroutines, channels, interfaces, error handling, context management, and memory considerations

• Experience in designing and constructing backend services within distributed or service-oriented architectures

• Solid understanding of and hands-on experience applying Hexagonal Architecture (Ports and Adapters)

• Proficient in building and consuming REST APIs and working with API-first systems

• Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar

• Understanding of database design, indexing, transactions, consistency, and performance

• Experience with asynchronous processing, event-driven architectures, message queues, or distributed workflows

• Strong software engineering principles including testing, clean code, maintainability, version control, and code review

• Experienced with Docker and containerized applications

• Knowledgeable about CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery

• Comfortable utilizing AI-assisted development tools while validating output and ensuring security, privacy, testing, and code quality

• Experience in debugging production systems and conducting root-cause analysis

• Proficient with logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and monitoring systems

• Understanding of distributed-system challenges such as partial failures, retries, idempotency, race conditions, timeouts, and eventual consistency

• Experience collaborating with Engineering, Infrastructure, Product, or Platform teams

• Capable of conveying technical decisions clearly and constructively challenging solutions

• Nice-to-have: experience in cloud/infrastructure platforms, Kubernetes, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, RabbitMQ, Redis Streams, high-throughput Go systems, microservices, observability stacks, Redis, public/private cloud technologies, networking fundamentals, legacy modernization, PHP, Symfony, architecture contributions, or mentoring
