Software Engineer – Edge & Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Create essential components for the Heartbeat AI Enterprise energy management platform in both edge and cloud environments.

• Develop high-performance edge controllers using Go programming language.

• Write control scripts and protocol drivers in Lua for inverters, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and HVAC systems.

• Design and implement scalable Go microservices for the cloud backend.

• Manage time-series data and telemetry while overseeing fleets across numerous customer locations.

• Implement IoT communication protocols such as MQTT and REST/gRPC.

• Facilitate local system communication through Modbus TCP/RTU.

• Ensure the seamless flow of data between local systems and the Virtual Power Plant to enable automated control based on spot market pricing.

• Collaborate with system architects, PLC developers, and product management within a cross-functional team.

• Swiftly introduce new features for commercial energy management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or significant professional experience in software development.

• Strong programming skills in Golang (Go), preferably in a cloud and microservices environment.

• Hands-on experience with Lua, particularly for embedded or edge applications.

• Thorough understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience in developing IoT solutions or edge computing applications, ideally on Linux-based systems.

• Proficiency in MQTT and REST; experience with industrial communication protocols like Modbus is an advantage.

• A structured and solution-oriented approach to tasks.

• Proficient in both written and spoken German and English.
