Software Engineer, Data Systems – Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and manage data pipelines that gather and transform data from diverse sources, ensuring reliability and maintainability.

• Create and maintain APIs that facilitate secure, tenant-aware data integrations with external systems.

• Operate within event-driven and batch processing frameworks to ensure data is up-to-date and consistent.

• Participate in API design and integration patterns that support both real-time and batch ingestion, utilizing authentication methods such as OAuth and API keys.

• Implement monitoring and alerting systems for data freshness issues, failures, and performance challenges.

• Optimize data flows and transformations, balancing cost, efficiency, and delivery speed in a cloud-native setting.

• Collaborate with data engineering, infrastructure, and product teams to enhance the integration platform and onboard new data sources.

• Work closely with product managers, product engineers, and business leaders to translate customer requirements into dependable data pipelines and products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or integration engineering, with familiarity in ETL, APIs, or data pipeline projects.

• Strong proficiency in Python programming.

• Experience in building applications against REST APIs; knowledge of GraphQL or webhooks is advantageous.

• Comfortable with SQL and some experience with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar).

• Some familiarity with orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.

• Willing to work in a containerized environment (Docker).

• Proven track record of delivering projects consistently and posing insightful questions when challenges arise.

• Experience in implementing authentication processes (OAuth 2.0, API keys, secrets management) — preferred.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes or other production deployment tools — preferred.

• Familiarity with ERP systems, CRMs, CDPs, or other enterprise data tools and their APIs — preferred.

• Exposure to event-driven architectures and real-time data processing tools — preferred.

• Understanding of data governance and compliance issues (GDPR, SOC 2) — preferred.

• Experience in a multi-tenant SaaS or data-intensive setting — preferred.
