Software Engineer – Compilers, Virtual Machines

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.

📋 Description

• Join the Smart Contracts team, which is dedicated to facilitating the execution of smart contracts on the Polkadot network.

• Responsibilities span from foundational software such as PolkaVM and revive to our smart contract execution environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience or a keen interest in areas including virtual machines, RISC-V, AMD64 assembly, dynamic recompilation, bytecode interpreters, compilers (especially in code optimization and machine code generation), low-level memory management, low-level operating system interfaces (particularly Linux), security sandboxing, performance engineering, and zero-knowledge proof systems, including zero-knowledge virtual machines.

• Ability to work independently and tackle problems autonomously.

• Thrive in a collaborative, open-source culture and environment.

• Take responsibility for your work, ensuring its completion while actively seeking and integrating feedback throughout the process.

• Possess strong communication skills, capable of presenting your work in “plain English” to colleagues and in formats like blog posts or at conferences.
