Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain backend systems on IBM i utilizing RPG, SQLRPGLE, and CLP.

• Connect IBM i applications with DB2 for i and broader enterprise systems.

• Produce dependable, well-tested code, which includes unit tests and contributions to CI/CD pipelines.

• Monitor defects, solutions, and bug resolutions.

• Acquire knowledge and implement agentic AI coding tools under the mentorship of senior staff.

• Assess AI-generated outputs critically prior to finalizing code.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, QA teams, and stakeholders across various departments.

• Engage in daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning sessions, and engineering guild activities.

• Share responsibilities for on-call duties and escalations.

• Pursue continuous learning of contemporary technologies, industry insights, and AI-supported development methodologies.

• Assist in software design and architecture while working under the guidance of senior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• 0–5 years of experience in the software engineering field.

• A degree in computer science or a related area, or equivalent practical experience.

• Basic understanding of RPG, SQLRPGLE, and/or CLP for IBM i.

• Familiarity with SQL-based data access methods.

• Capability to critically assess AI-generated code for accuracy, quality, and security.

• A proven interest in learning and utilizing agentic AI coding tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot.

• Ability to work effectively in collaboration with engineers and cross-functional teams.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• A growth mindset with a desire to enhance IBM i skills and learn modern integration techniques.
