Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain backend services utilizing Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch, prioritizing reliability and performance at scale.

• Create and enhance GraphQL and REST APIs that cater to internal services and products aimed at consumers.

• Construct and optimize batch processing pipelines for data-heavy workflows, including ingestion, enrichment, and scheduled tasks.

• Utilize LLM-assisted coding tools (such as Claude Code, Copilot) to expedite development, while exercising sound judgment to assess, validate, and refine AI-generated code.

• Evaluate tradeoffs between performance, maintainability, and delivery speed, applying judgment within established engineering practices and frameworks.

• Engage in code reviews, participate in on-call rotations, and respond to incidents, contributing to service health, observability, and ongoing enhancement.

• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and fellow engineers to define project scope, refine requirements, and achieve team objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional backend engineering experience primarily in Java or Kotlin.

• Proficient in Java, with a comfort level that allows for effective work in Kotlin environments or codebases.

• Practical experience with Spring Boot and Spring Batch (or similar JVM batch frameworks) in production settings.

• Strong foundation in REST API design and execution.

• Hands-on experience in building or utilizing GraphQL APIs (federated graphs are an advantage).

• Proficient in utilizing LLM-based coding assistants in your daily workflow, including knowing when to trust their output and when to challenge it.

• Comprehensive understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, asynchronous messaging systems (like Kafka), and concepts related to distributed systems.

• Capability to work with a degree of independence on moderately complex issues, delivering high-quality results without close supervision.
