Software Engineer – AI Infrastructure, MCP, Agentic AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Croatia.

📋 Description

• Design and develop MCP tools for managed MCP servers along with an open-source MCP Toolbox for Databases.

• Improve functionality and increase test coverage for tools utilized by agentic coding assistants and AI agents integrated within IDEs.

• Maintain and enhance the MCP Toolbox for Databases codebase with a focus on scalability, reliability, and clean architecture.

• Expand and uphold comprehensive test suites for asynchronous AI tools and command-line interface-based systems.

• Convert technical concepts and blog content into practical code samples and clear documentation for developers.

• Create and sustain high-fidelity data applications using QueryData to back internal experimentation and product development.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience working with **LLMs or AI systems that integrate external tools or data sources** (such as MCP, tool-calling, agents).

• Strong expertise in **SQL**, encompassing the writing and optimization of complex queries.

• Practical experience with at least one **relational or NoSQL database** (for instance, PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigQuery, Spanner, MongoDB).

• Experience in developing or maintaining **backend systems, APIs, or developer tools**.

• Familiarity with **asynchronous systems or CLI-based applications**.

• Demonstrated experience in **writing, maintaining, and enhancing automated test suites**.

• Experience in **refactoring codebases for scalability, maintainability, and performance**.

• A solid grasp of **how AI agents handle context, tools, and data interactions**.

• Experience contributing to or working within **shared or production-grade codebases** (whether internal or open-source).

• Capability to produce **clear technical documentation and developer-oriented content**.
