Software Engineer, AI Developer Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain internal engineering tools that enhance the builder experience and minimize friction throughout the organization.

• Assist in promoting the use of AI-driven coding tools through documentation, automation, and expert guidance.

• Contribute to the design and management of internally focused agents.

• Aid in the implementation of developer workflows, incorporating guardrails and assessment strategies that facilitate the secure integration of new tools.

• Support the creation and management of our internal agent platform.

• Collaborate with various teams across Engineering, Product, Sales, and G&A to identify opportunities where AI can expedite their processes or enhance results.

• Participate in establishing measurement and feedback mechanisms (usage, reliability, cost, and cycle time) to quantify impact and inform iterations.

• Assist in maintaining documentation and resources that empower builders utilizing standardized processes.

• Engage in on-call support for internal users.


⛳️ Requirements

• Strong software engineering principles, with some experience in contributing to production-level internal platforms or developer tools.

• Knowledge of contemporary AI-driven coding tools like Codex and Claude Code.

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly utilized at Temporal, including Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or Java.

• Experience in developing or contributing to workflow automation or internal tools (CLI tools, services, GitHub automation, cloud automation, or similar).

• Good decision-making skills regarding when to standardize versus when to allow flexibility, with an increasing ability to balance reducing friction against ensuring reliability.

• Comfort in cross-functional collaboration, including with non-traditional developers, and the ability to translate their needs into effective solutions.

• Capability to leverage data and qualitative feedback to prioritize tasks and measure impact effectively.

• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to create documentation that supports self-service.
