Software Development Engineer – WhatsApp Voice

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Stabilize & Scale the Platform: Address systemic bottlenecks, enhance fault tolerance, and ensure consistent availability for essential phone services.

• Efficiency & Performance: Optimize resource utilization (CPU, memory, network) to manage millions of operations while minimizing cloud expenses.

• Tech Debt & Modernization: Spearhead long-term refactoring initiatives, phase out legacy systems, and implement scalable design patterns.

• Security & Compliance: Enhance data protection, access controls, and audit capabilities across the platform.

• Developer Velocity: Refine tooling, observability, and automation to expedite engineering workflows.

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and other engineering teams to align on platform priorities.

• Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor engineers, establish architectural standards, and drive the platform roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of backend engineering experience, including the design of fault-tolerant systems and work on large-scale platforms.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous job processing.

• Significant experience with relational and NoSQL data models, particularly involving complex temporal data.

• Demonstrated success in architecting intricate systems and delivering scalable, high-performance web applications in production.

• Strong grasp of software design patterns, API design, and microservices architecture within a multi-tenant environment.

• Proficient in guiding technical architecture, making impactful engineering decisions, and mentoring peers.

• Familiarity with code quality practices, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and optimizing development tooling.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities, accompanied by effective and collaborative communication skills.
