Software Architect – Containers, Virtualisation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Lead the architecture for LXD and MicroCloud.

• Mentor and guide colleagues in their professional development.

• Engage in development using Golang and C.

• Conduct code reviews for work completed by fellow engineers.

• Ensure the product maintains high security and performance standards.

• Exhibit technical leadership within Canonical and the broader community.

• Work remotely with the opportunity for global travel twice a year for company events.

⛳️ Requirements

• An outstanding academic background from both secondary school and university.

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.

• A proactive attitude with a proven history of exceeding expectations.

• Experience in technical leadership along with the ability to motivate and direct a team.

• Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of meeting deadlines.

• Exhibits a professional demeanor when engaging with colleagues, partners, and the community.

• Proficient in Go and C programming languages.

• Familiarity with storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.

• Experience with containerization technologies.

• Knowledge of concurrent and distributed systems.

• Attention to detail and conscientiousness, with a focus on achieving high performance.

• Proficient in written and spoken English in a professional context.

• Experience working with Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, along with curiosity, adaptability, and accountability.
