📋 Description

• The SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Administrator is essential in ensuring dependable, standards-based electrical engineering execution across capital projects and operational settings.

• This position is responsible for configuring, managing, and providing support for electrical engineering design systems, allowing project teams and owner-operators to have confidence in their data, drawings, and deliverables throughout the asset lifecycle.

• Serving as a subject matter expert and a technical advisor for clients, this role connects engineering standards, business processes, and digital tools.

• Success is evaluated through stable system performance, high-quality electrical data, assured end-user adoption, and consistent alignment with client engineering and operational needs.

• Configure and manage SPEL in accordance with client standards, project needs, and operational workflows, including reference data, catalogs, templates, reports, and system services.

• Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of electrical engineering data through audits, validations, bulk data operations, and corrective measures across projects and operations.

• Provide support to engineers, designers, and operations users via responsive system assistance, training, and documentation that promote confident and consistent use of electrical design tools.

• Create and maintain system documentation, work instructions, and procedures that adhere to engineering standards, data governance, and repeatable delivery practices.

• Collaborate with solution architects and data specialists to facilitate integrations between electrical design tools and related engineering, asset, or information management systems.

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to client stakeholders, supporting defined scopes of work and contributing to delivery outcomes that align with schedule, quality, and operational goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must be Canadian or U.S. citizens and residents. Individuals with citizenship from other countries must be listed in Appendix A to Part 810, Title 10 Generally Authorized Destinations to be eligible (https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-10/chapter-III/part-810/appendix-Appendix%20A%20to%20Part%20810).

• Must successfully pass a 5-panel drug and alcohol test and a NATO security/background check.

• Willingness to undertake an SPEL skills assessment after a successful interview is required.

• Candidates should possess strong and recent (within the last 3 years) proficiency in SPEL Administration.

• Hands-on experience in administering electrical engineering design tools within Owner/Operator and/or EPC environments is preferred.

• Proven exposure to electrical engineering data, drawings, reports, and deliverables throughout project and operations lifecycles is essential.

• Experience in supporting engineering standards, work processes, and data governance practices is required.

• Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and executing data validation or integrity checks is needed.

• Experience in developing user documentation, procedures, and training materials is advantageous.

• Exposure to system integrations, data migration, or multi-tool engineering environments is beneficial.

• Relevant industry experience in Energy, Chemicals, Mining, or related asset-intensive sectors is preferred.
