Small Business Engagement Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Lead Outreach & Education: Cultivate relationships with small, minority-owned, and HUB-certified enterprises. Conduct onboarding sessions, educational workshops, and community briefings that clarify government contracting processes.

• Supplier Success & Retention: Assist vendors in completing their profiles, preparing for bids, and aligning with suitable projects. Advocate for their perspectives within Civic Marketplace to influence tools and policies that cater to their requirements.

• Partnership Development: Work in collaboration with chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, co-ops, and advocacy groups to broaden our reliable network of suppliers.

• Pipeline Growth: Propel supplier acquisition in key states and RFP verticals, aligning with our strategic objectives and buyer-side demand.

• Operational Leadership: Contribute to the design and optimization of internal processes, feedback mechanisms, and CRM workflows for efficient scaling of supplier-side operations.

• A passion for public service and the inclusion of small businesses. You are committed to fostering community growth through economic empowerment.

• Experience collaborating with HUBs, MWBEs, DBEs, or similar certification initiatives—preferably within a public or nonprofit context.

• A solid grasp of public procurement processes and the essentials for small business success within this arena.

• Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities. Comfortable leading webinars and engaging with individuals ranging from micro-enterprise founders to public procurement officials.

• Familiarity with the B2G Platform, Texas DIR, CRMs (such as HubSpot), Airtable, or other outreach and tracking tools.

• Resilience, ownership, and integrity. You thrive in a mission-driven startup without the need for constant guidance.

• Bonus If You Have

• Proficiency in Spanish or another language commonly spoken in underserved small business communities.

• Previous experience in vendor engagement, certification assistance, or providing technical support for small businesses.

• Experience working with or within a cooperative purchasing network.
