Skilled Trades Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Design and deliver virtual lessons that adhere to trade standards, apprenticeship frameworks, and the program's curriculum

• Modify in-person trade teaching techniques for effective online delivery (demonstrations, video walkthroughs, annotated diagrams)

• Facilitate live virtual sessions using video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams, or similar)

• Create or enhance course materials such as slide presentations, handouts, and demonstration videos

• Assign, assess, and provide constructive feedback on student assignments, projects, and evaluations

• Ensure that instruction complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations within the trade

• Promote an inclusive, professional, and supportive virtual learning atmosphere

• Track student progress and proactively identify learners requiring additional assistance

• Conduct virtual office hours or one-on-one meetings with students

• Maintain ongoing communication with students about expectations, deadlines, and performance

• Encourage critical thinking and the practical application of trade knowledge

• Record attendance, monitor student participation, and input grades/assessment results into the program's administrative system

• Submit necessary reports, documentation, and progress updates promptly

• Engage in instructor orientation, training sessions, and regular program meetings

• Collaborate with program administrators regarding scheduling, curriculum modifications, and student issues

⛳️ Requirements

• Journeyperson certification or equivalent documented experience in the specific trade (10+ years preferred)

• Currently active or recently engaged in the trade; up-to-date knowledge of codes, materials, and practices

• Proven ability to clearly convey complex trade concepts to learners with varying skill levels

• Comfortable with live video instruction (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or similar)

• Proficient in navigating web-based administrative/LMS platforms for recordkeeping and communication

• Capable of creating or modifying digital materials (presentations, PDFs, instructional videos)

• Dependable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated workspace appropriate for virtual teaching

• Strong verbal communication and presentation abilities

• Organizational skills to effectively manage lesson planning, grading, and administrative responsibilities within designated hours

• Preferably experienced in training, mentoring, or instruction (formal or informal)

• Patience, professionalism, and a learner-centered approach are essential.
