This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Assist in enhancing reliability, automation, and performance within our cloud infrastructure.
• Organize and support the daily operations for SREs on the team while collaborating with their managers to establish strategies for managing daily tasks.
• Monitor team success in alignment with defined goals and objectives.
• Tackle issues of limited scope, demonstrating the capability to identify and implement solutions for routine challenges.
• Integrate within an Engineering team to guide them towards production excellence and champion best practices.
• Mentor colleagues and spearhead initiatives.
• Lead the design of features while considering system-wide and architectural implications.
• Familiarize yourself with the fundamental day-to-day responsibilities of a production environment and engage in on-call support.
• Collaborate with various disciplines throughout the design, deployment, operation, and optimization of services.
• Troubleshoot production issues across services and stack levels, practicing incident response and conducting blameless postmortems.
• Identify opportunities in processes and tools to boost overall team productivity.
• Recognize exceptional talent and inspire them to join our team.
• Provide estimates, monitor progress, manage risks, and oversee team members' time.
• Participate in on-call shifts alongside other disciplines to address incidents.
• Engage with tech communities and contribute to their enhancement.
• Align with our business domain and needs, as well as our company's vision, mission, and strategy to achieve both short-term and long-term goals.
• 5 years of experience in the SRE domain.
• 2-5 years of experience in leading, managing, and developing SRE teams.
• Comfortable with the prospect of becoming a generalizing specialist as we aim to create a multidisciplinary and balanced team of "t-shaped" individuals.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language is essential, as software engineering is a crucial aspect of our work, and we actively utilize various platforms and languages.
• Expertise in testing methodologies such as TDD or BDD will be highly regarded.
• Familiarity with the container ecosystem, cloud infrastructure, build systems, and CI/CD tools is vital for success in this role.
• Capable of taking ownership of complex systems challenges and uncovering improvement opportunities.
