This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Engage in on-call rotations to identify and address service and reliability challenges across all environments. Serve as the Incident Commander during significant incidents, initiating war room or bridge calls, coordinating cross-functional teams, and providing timely and clear status updates to all stakeholders.
• Design and sustain impactful dashboards and alerts. Collaborate with development teams to instrument their code to ensure comprehensive visibility.
• Create automation solutions to eradicate manual and repetitive operational tasks (toil) associated with reliability in both applications and infrastructure.
• Implement and monitor Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) as defined by engineering leadership.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints escalated beyond L1 and L2 support, particularly those related to performance, reliability, or complex system behavior.
• At least 4 years of experience in supporting enterprise applications as an SRE or in a similar capacity, with a strong proficiency in coding with Java, Go, or Python.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts, microservices architecture, and software design patterns.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes. You have managed applications on a leading cloud provider (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and can troubleshoot common container-related issues.
• Experience in setting up dashboards in Grafana and utilizing APM tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or Signoz. You possess a strong understanding of metrics, logs, and traces.
• Proficiency in SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) with the capability to write complex queries for debugging data issues and a fundamental understanding of database performance.
