Software/DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Assist in both software development and operational activities within a product-focused, small company setting.

• Combine practical development tasks with runtime operations and take ownership of ongoing product data ingestion processes.

• Enhance systems that support products and consistently improve delivery mechanisms.

• Design, create, and sustain backend services and related applications.

• Develop and upgrade data ingestion components, which include integrations, transformations, and validation logic.

• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve production challenges, emphasizing root-cause analysis and sustainable solutions.

• Create internal tools and automation processes to minimize friction and boost reliability.

• Work alongside product and data teams to ensure that solutions are ready for production and operationally robust.

• Take ownership of executing recurring product data ingestion processes.

• Oversee ingestion operations, manage retries, and address any failures or partial loads.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative discipline.

• Over 10 years of experience in data engineering or a related role, showcasing technical leadership abilities.

• Proficiency in building and managing AWS-native data systems (Redshift, Aurora, RDS PostgreSQL, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, MWAA-Airflow), including writing views, stored procedures, and triggers.

• Strong experience in Python and SQL, with a focus on advanced query design and database optimization.

• Experience with healthcare data (Medical Claims, Rx Claims) or similar healthcare datasets is essential.

• Capability to develop subject-matter expertise and engage thoughtfully with business teams.
