This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define, monitor, and enforce error budgets to guarantee a product availability of 99.99%.
• Develop and implement strategies for scaling production systems while overseeing operational maintenance of cloud infrastructure (e.g., consolidation of Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters).
• Take ownership of the GCP cloud computing budget, analyzing pricing models and identifying workflows to enhance productivity and lower operational expenses (e.g., achieving a 25% reduction in costs).
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to prioritize performance optimizations—such as partitioning and clustering BigQuery tables or refining ETL/ELT pipelines—to accelerate data access for business users.
• Ensure that the data architecture is designed to facilitate advanced analytics and machine learning models, while preparing clean and accessible datasets for Data Scientists.
• Work in partnership with Legal and Security teams to maintain compliance of the AWS/GCP environment with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) through the use of Cloud IAM (Identity and Access Management) and stringent data access policies.
• Profound knowledge of cloud computing (GCP), infrastructure as code (Terraform), container orchestration (Kubernetes/GKE), and principles of Site Reliability Engineering.
• Significant experience in Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Business Intelligence (BI), and deployment of AI/Machine Learning products.
• Proven track record of managing substantial cloud budgets, analyzing cost and pricing structures, and optimizing infrastructure expenditure within the Google Cloud ecosystem.
• Demonstrated experience in directly managing technical staff (engineers, SREs) and leading cross-functional teams without formal authority.
• Outstanding ability to articulate complex technical infrastructure and data concepts into clear business value for executive stakeholders.
