Shopify Backend Developer, API, Java, GraphQL – Spring Boot 3 – GCP, Azure, AWS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and implement robust, scalable backend services utilizing Java and Spring Boot 3 on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Assume complete ownership of the entire development lifecycle for new platform features, encompassing technical design and requirement clarification with product and support teams, all the way through testing and deployment.

• Deeply engage with business logic, address complex API integrations for Shopify, and create solutions that provide genuine value to our customers in the fields of accounting and e-commerce.

• Actively monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance production environments to guarantee that our platform remains high-performing and dependable.

• Engage in code reviews, share insights with the team, and contribute to fostering a culture of technical excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in backend development, with a solid understanding of Java and the Spring Boot framework.

• Experience with AI coding tools and a proactive approach to advancing AI adoption within our development processes.

• Structured thinker: adept at deconstructing complex problems, clarifying requirements with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and crafting clean, well-architected solutions.

• Extensive experience in designing and working with Shopify GraphQL APIs, including intricate third-party integrations.

• Practical experience in building and deploying applications on cloud platforms, ideally GCP (Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, etc.).

• Exceptional debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical abilities. You are confident in navigating uncertainty and identifying the root causes of issues.

• Strong collaboration skills: you communicate effectively and thrive in a team-oriented setting. You have experience with Git, continuous delivery pipelines (e.g., GitLab), and agile methodologies such as monthly scope planning and regular code reviews.
