This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +4 more states.
• Lead the team tasked with creating precise labor, material, and subcontractor cost estimates for service-oriented projects.
• Ensure all estimates are in line with operational capabilities, established pricing strategies, and the objectives for project profitability.
• Collaborate with sales, project management, and field operations to guarantee that estimates accurately represent real-world execution conditions and scope requirements.
• Maintain estimating tools and historical data libraries to enhance team efficiency and consistency.
• Supervise and mentor a team of service estimators, offering technical guidance and coaching on performance.
• Ensure the prompt and precise delivery of estimates, proposals, and pre-sale documentation to meet project timelines.
• Review and validate team estimates for accuracy, competitiveness, and adherence to margin targets.
• Assist in maintaining pricing databases, which include labor rates, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Collaborate with sales and operations to define project scope, identifying potential constraints or opportunities for added value.
• Utilize and enhance estimating templates and workflows to minimize turnaround time and ensure consistency throughout the team.
• Manage and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the delivery and accuracy of estimates and proposals.
• Ensure that team estimates consider safety, logistics, and execution risks.
• Aid in proposal creation and actively participate in customer bid reviews as necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in cost estimating or proposal development, including at least 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership position.
• Strong understanding of service operations, particularly in labor planning and material costing.
• Proficient in estimating software and advanced Microsoft Excel (including cost models and pivot tables).
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team under tight deadlines across various project types.
• Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on margin discipline and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication abilities and experience in coordinating with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and CRM platforms is preferred.
